Our Projection & Sound Technology

Focused on the best picture & sound

While we may be the most famous for our Show Dogs, at the Liberty Theatre in Carnegie, the picture and sound are never an afterthought. Every film we show runs on professional cinema equipment chosen to deliver the brightest, sharpest, and most immersive presentation possible. All three of our houses feature true 4K laser projection and Dolby Digital 7.1 surround sound, which means there is no second-rate screen and no bad seat in the building. Whichever auditorium you walk into, you get big-market movie quality right here on Main Street in southwest Oklahoma.

True 4K Laser Projection in Every Auditorium

The heart of our presentation is the NEC DLP 4K laser projector, and we run the exact same model in all three of our houses. DLP, short for Digital Light Processing, is the projection technology trusted in commercial cinemas around the world for its precision, sharpness, and reliability. Paired with a 4K imager, it places more than four times the detail of standard high definition on the screen. Fine textures, sweeping backgrounds, and the smallest changes in a character’s expression all stay crisp and clear, even during the largest and most demanding scenes. This is the same class of projector you would expect to find in a modern big-city multiplex, now running every night in Carnegie.

Why Laser Projection Looks Better

The laser light source is what truly sets these projectors apart. Older projectors rely on a xenon lamp that begins fading the moment it is switched on and slowly shifts color as it ages. That is why some theatres look dim or washed out by the time a bulb reaches the end of its life. Our NEC laser projectors hold their brightness and color accuracy from the first showtime of the day to the final show of the night, and from the day we install them to years down the road. The payoff for you is richer color, deeper and truer blacks, brighter highlights, and a picture that looks exactly the way the filmmakers intended every single time.

Inside Our Projection Booths

Behind each of our three houses sits a dedicated projection booth where this equipment lives and runs. We take real pride in these spaces. Each booth is kept clean, organized, and properly maintained, because a great picture on the screen starts with well-cared-for equipment behind it. Our NEC projectors are calibrated to perform at their best and serviced to keep them there, so that what you see in the auditorium stays consistent show after show. The booth is where the technology and the craft of running a small-town theatre come together.

The Same Experience on All Three Screens

Because all three houses run identical NEC DLP 4K laser projectors, your experience never depends on which auditorium your movie happens to land in. Many larger multiplexes mix aging and modern equipment, so one screen looks excellent while another looks tired and dim. We made the deliberate choice to standardize on one professional projector across the entire theatre. No matter which house you are seated in, you are watching the same true 4K laser presentation, held to the same high standard.

Dolby Digital 7.1 Surround Sound

Picture is only half of the experience. Each of our houses is equipped with Dolby Digital 7.1 surround sound, which separates the audio into eight discrete channels and surrounds you with speakers throughout the auditorium. A whispered line stays close and intimate, a passing car travels across the room, and a full musical score fills the space without ever burying the dialogue. The effect draws you into the story rather than simply playing sound at you, and it is the same surround sound standard used in major-market theatres across the country.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of projectors does the Liberty Theatre use? All three of our houses use NEC DLP 4K laser projectors, the same model in every auditorium. They pair 4K resolution with a laser light source for a brighter, sharper, and more consistent picture than traditional lamp projectors deliver.

Do all three screens have 4K laser projection? Yes. Every one of our three houses runs the identical NEC DLP 4K laser projector, so you get the same true 4K laser presentation no matter which auditorium your movie is in.

What is the difference between laser projection and a regular projector? A traditional projector uses a xenon lamp that dims and shifts color as it ages. A laser light source holds its brightness and color from the first show of the day to the last, giving you deeper blacks, richer color, and a more vivid image throughout the entire movie.

Does the Liberty Theatre have surround sound? Yes. Every house is equipped with Dolby Digital 7.1 surround sound, which uses eight separate channels of audio to surround you with clear, immersive sound that places every effect exactly where it belongs.

Is there a 4K laser theater in southwest Oklahoma? Yes. The Liberty Theatre in Carnegie offers true 4K laser projection and Dolby Digital 7.1 surround sound on all three screens, so you do not have to drive to Lawton or Oklahoma City for a premium, big-market movie experience.

Is the picture really 4K? Yes. Our NEC projectors present a true 4K image, which carries more than four times the detail of standard high definition for a crisp, lifelike picture on every screen.
